Debbie, owner of Pawfect Puppy Preschool, holding a puppy
Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Debbie.

If there's one thing you'll quickly discover about me, it's that I've always had a huge soft spot for animals — but dogs have always held a very special place in my heart.

After many years working as a corporate manager in KwaZulu-Natal, my family and I moved to Cape Town. I knew I was ready for a change and wanted to build a life around something I genuinely loved.

During my first two years in Cape Town, I spent much of my time fostering puppies. Those little pups taught me so much about the importance of positive early experiences, gentle guidance, socialisation, routine and, of course, plenty of love.

Our story

How Pawfect Puppy Preschool Began 🐾

From a lifelong love of dogs to a little dream that became Pawfect…

Pawfect grew from Debbie's lifelong love of animals, her experience fostering puppies, and her desire to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment specifically for young puppies.

Where the idea began

A different kind of place for puppies

The more puppies Debbie fostered and the more she learned, the more she realised there was a need for something different.

She didn't want to create somewhere puppies were simply dropped off to play all day.

She envisioned a safe, structured and nurturing environment specifically designed for puppies — somewhere young puppies could learn, play, socialise, build confidence and enjoy being puppies in a carefully supervised environment.

This eventually became the idea for a puppy-only preschool in the Helderberg area — a home away from home where puppies could receive care, guidance and positive experiences while their parents were at work.

Passion backed by knowledge

Doing it properly

Debbie wanted to make sure that if she was going to work with puppies, she did it properly.

A little dream becomes Pawfect 💛

From dream to doorstep

Turning Pawfect into reality was a family effort.

Debbie's partner, David, put his heart and soul into helping build and create the school, while Debbie's daughter also helped get everything ready.

Pawfect Puppy Preschool officially opened its doors on 6 October 2025.

It started with just three little puppies.

The school has since grown, but the heart behind Pawfect has remained the same.

More than a daycare.

Every puppy is an individual

Every puppy that walks through Pawfect's doors is treated as an individual.

Debbie gets to know their personalities, quirks, confidence levels, favourite games — and sometimes their very creative ways of getting into mischief!

For Debbie, Pawfect isn't simply a business. It is something she has poured her heart, passion and love for dogs into.

One of the most rewarding parts is watching a nervous puppy arrive on their first day and, over time, blossom into a happy, confident little dog who can't wait to come through the gates and see their friends.

That is why I created Pawfect.

A place where puppies can be puppies.

A place where puppies can be puppies. Where they can learn through play, build confidence, make friends and receive the love and guidance they need during such an important stage of their development.

And every morning when those little paws come running through the door, I'm reminded that a little dream really did become a reality.

Welcome to Pawfect Puppy Preschool. 🐾
